WHAT IS A LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACK?

 In the field of energy storage systems, the current technology is relatively mature and the most rapid development momentum is lithium-ion battery energy storage. Among them, lithium-ion battery PACK technology is an extremely important part. What exactly is a battery pack?

Lithium-ion battery pack is also called a battery module. It is a lithium-ion battery manufacturing process. The lithium-ion battery process is to connect multiple lithium-ion cells in parallel and series. We also need to consider the mechanical strength of the system, thermal management, BM matching, and other issues.

Battery pack technology is reflected in the overall structural design, welding and processing process control, protection level, and active thermal management system. If 10 batteries are connected in series or parallel to form a specific shape according to customer requirements, it is called a battery pack.

If the battery pack is compared to a human body, then the module is the “heart”. The battery module is responsible for the storage and release of power.

Electrical System

The electrical system is mainly composed of connecting copper bars, high-voltage wiring harnesses, low-voltage wiring harnesses, and electrical guarantee devices. The high-voltage wiring harness can be seen as the “major artery” of the battery PACK. It continuously transfers battery power to the end load. The low-voltage harness can be seen as the “neural network” of the battery PACK. It transmits detection signals and control signals in real-time.

Thermal management system

The thermal management system mainly has two ways: air cooling and liquid cooling. Liquid cooling can be divided into cold plate liquid cooling and submerged liquid cooling. The thermal management system is the equivalent of putting an air conditioner on the battery pack. The battery generates heat when it is discharged. To ensure that the battery works at a reasonable ambient temperature and improves the battery cycle life, the system temperature difference is generally required to be less than 5 ° C.

Box

This part is mainly composed of a box, a box cover plate, a metal bracket, a panel, and a fixing screw. It can be seen as the “skeleton” of the battery pack, which plays the role of support, resistance to mechanical shock, mechanical vibration, and environmental protection.

BMS

BMS is a Battery management system. It can be likened to the “brain” of a battery. It is mainly responsible for measuring battery voltage, current, and temperature parameters. At the same time, it can also transmit data to MES.
